Tintype Portraits at the Mile High Beard Bout 2025
Stoneys Downtown Denver | Presented by REUZEL & the Rocky Mountain Beard & Mustache Club
The Mile High Beard Bout 2025 once again transformed Stoneys in Downtown Denver into a high-energy celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and community. This year’s competition brought together some of the most impressive beards, mustaches, and whisker artistry in the region—and I was honored to document it all with one-of-a-kind tintype portraits.
Using my hybrid tintype photobooth, competitors and attendees stepped in front of the camera to create unique portraits that feel as bold and timeless as the beards themselves.
Raising Funds for WarriorNow
Beyond the beards and mustaches, the Mile High Beard Bout 2025 carried a powerful mission. This year, the event raised money for WarriorNow, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of isolation and justice involvement among Veterans.
WarriorNow connects Veterans to trained mentors, community resources, and transformative programs designed to foster healing, growth, and long-term success. Capturing these tintype portraits added another layer of meaning—each image standing as a symbol of strength, resilience, and community support.

Why Tintype Portraits Are Perfect for Beard Competitions
A modern photo booth simply can’t compete with the presence of a tintype camera. The slow, intentional process mirrors the dedication it takes to grow, groom, and style award-worthy facial hair.
These epic beard portraits highlight texture, depth, and personality in a way digital images rarely do. Every curl, twist, and whisker is preserved in a format that feels historic, powerful, and unmistakably bold—making tintypes a standout attraction and a fun photobooth experience guests won’t forget.
A Lasting Takeaway from an Iconic Event
From competitors to spectators, the tintype photobooth became a gathering point—where stories were shared, laughs echoed through Stoneys, and people walked away with a tangible piece of art. These portraits aren’t just photos; they’re heirlooms from a night that celebrated individuality, community, and giving back.
The Mile High Beard Bout 2025 proved once again that when great causes, great people, and great beards come together, something truly special happens—especially when captured through the lens of historic tintype photography.
